OAK Trading Systems was established in 1998 to facilitate the future of order routing in the commodity markets. Oak envisioned that the emerging rule changes, improving technologies and the consistent customer demand for fast execution would push the industry towards electronic trading. These predictions were soon realized: many floor brokers adopted the use of the Electronic Clerk(EC) and Cubs devices which enabled them to receive orders electronically in the pits, bypassing the phone clerks and runners; technology became more affordable and reliable and the customers expectations of fast execution followed suit.

OAK provided the opportunity for traders to capitalize on these trends. The OAK platform interfaces directly with the electronic order routing systems adopted by the exchanges. As the exchanges expanded into fully electronic platforms, so did OAK, facilitating the transition for brokers and individual traders alike.
